A house with no secrets, supposedly
My Girlfriend's Stepmom is a Candy Shorts series about a guest who walks into a household with its own customs. Jake has just moved in with his girlfriend, and her stepmom has a rule ready for him. Later come a blindfold, a family tradition, and a husband who gets home to find Jake the last one in on it.
Dana runs the room from her first line. Jake spends both free episodes trying to keep up with a woman who is three steps ahead of him. The Candy Shorts format keeps each exchange quick, and his few words become the running gag.
Episode 1: Day one
Dana arrives, already knows his name and introduces herself as Chloe's stepmom. Jake stumbles through a greeting that stops short of a full sentence. She tells him to relax and repeats the rule from the doorway: in this house, no one hides anything.
Dana then tells Chloe that she has already met him, in the shower, while Chloe tries to stop her mid-sentence. Someone complains about not getting a warning, and Jake is summed up as a lot. The last lines ask whether Chloe told him anything, and the clip closes on a short invitation: "Come here."
Episode 2: Rule one
Chloe tells Jake not to freak out, and the lines that follow do the opposite. The family tradition, she says, involves her, her boyfriends and Dana. A promise of patience follows, then two minutes and an order to sit and stay still.
Rule one is that no one touches her until she says so. Rule two is that if he keeps looking at her like that, rule one gets skipped. He answers with a nervous one-word reply. The closing exchange is rapid. Someone asks what is happening, and the reply is that he has seen enough for one day. A mention of Mom picking something out leads to the final order: "Don't move."
I played the opening pair back to back, phone in hand, and counted how few words Jake gets in. On Candy Shorts, his silence is the running joke, and the joke works. Episode 2 ends mid-order, which makes the swipe to episode 3 feel automatic.
Orders, rules and a lot of staring

Skip it if you prefer a realistic family drama. Skip it as well if you want a plot with a wide cast. This one keeps to a handful of people and a lot of orders.
